Smart Cities Marketplace Matchmaking event: Accelerate your project idea

21 March 2023

Cities are facing new challenges, including the energy market, but often lack the technical and financial capacity to realize the most advanced opportunities.

The Smart Cities Marketplace (SCM) provides the necessary assistance and is an ideal platform to accelerate the implementation of the REPowerEU plan and support cities and small and medium-sized municipalities on their way to a clean energy transition.
If you want to accelerate the implementation of your project idea and are looking for opportunities to transform your city or town into a climate-neutral and smart one, this event is for you.

What you can learn at the event:

  • How to prepare the financial part of the project concept to make it more attractive to investors.
  • How to accelerate cooperation between the city and business to implement smart and sustainable investment projects.
  • Inspiring project concepts and strategic approaches for cities in transition.

This online event also offers a unique opportunity to learn about smart mobility solutions for cleaner, more sustainable and better connected cities.

Moreover, the online event presents a unique opportunity to discover smart mobility solutions for more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and better-connected cities.

Are you interested in discovering more about finding partners in the smart cities market? The SCM’s partner search process makes it easier for communities, towns, and cities to accelerate their transition to climate neutrality by facilitating and supporting the development, financing, implementation, and scaling of established solutions in the areas of clean energy, sustainable mobility, and ICT. The SCM’s activities focus on knowledge sharing, capacity building, guidance, and practical advice, supported by its community and an expanding Investor Network. The support provided includes activities such as one-on-one on-site consultations with legal, financial, technical, and management experts, peer-to-peer exchanges, Deal investor meetings, financing workshops, investor sourcing webinars and online investor sourcing information days, and investor sourcing events.

The Smart Cities Marketplace also provides matchmaking services for cities and city consortia that want to participate in the green transition at different stages of project preparation. Similarly, the matchmaking services help investors find offers from smart cities. Four matchmaking events are held annually, offering cities and municipalities, particularly small to medium-sized ones, as well as investors and other stakeholders, ample opportunities to scale up renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility solutions. The events include best practices for cooperation between public and private partners, as well as model cases to reduce investment risks. The creation of predictable synergies will strengthen the network of all involved actors. This will be done through the Marketplace Matchmaking mechanism and mainly (but not exclusively) private funding, possibly complemented and supported by other EU instruments and initiatives.

Furthermore, participants can join 1:1 virtual meetings to network and build communities with Smart Cities and Communities stakeholders (by appointment).
